How to Password Protect a Folder
without any Software – Quick Tutorial
Windows being the
popular OS, it has many hacks that can be implemented to get the most out of
it. Now, in today’s post we are going to discuss something about how you can
protect or hide any folder with a password and I promise that we will not be
using any kind of software for that purpose.
Security of data is a
major concern for everyone today. We save our passwords in a text file and
forget to protect that file itself, which amount to nothing in terms of
protecting your files. Now, why I insist on not using a software like, Free Hide
folder or Folder
Lock is that, they consume
your CPU resources plus increases the workload.
In order to get rid of
the same, we have showcased a very east method by which you can easily protect
your files & folders. So, here begins the procedure.
Procedure to create a
password protected folder
Step 1) Create a New Folder, just name it anything. This folder will act
as the gateway to all folders/files that you want to hide.
Step 2) Navigate to newly
created folder and create a new notepad file
Step 3) Now, download a text
file from this
. Copy the content of this file to the text file you’ve just created. Find the phrase PASSWORD_GOES_HERE in the code and replace it with the password you want to keep to protect the folder.

Step 4) Once, you’re done with
that, save the text file with the name “locker.bat“. Remember, to select “All Files” in the filetype field.
Step 5) Now, open the locker.bat file. You will see a Folder named “Private” is automatically created. Move the files
that you want to hide to this folder.
Step 6) Now, run the
“locker.bat” file again and it will ask for the confirmation. Press “Y” to
confirm.
Step 7) Once, done you will
now see that Private folder has disappeared. Voila, your files are now
invisible to everyone.
Step 8) If you want to get the
Private folder back, just run the locker.bat file and enter the password to
unlock. The Private folder will now appear again.
