Isn’t it sound interesting ?? Although, you might have not heard something of this kind before but this can be done. Using either your Flash drive (like., USB,etc) or SD card you can increase the RAM of your computer. Readyboost, is a Windows OS utility which allows a portion of SDcard or USB Drive to be allocated for system temporary memory (i.e., Cache memory).
Cache is that part of memory which lies between RAM and processor, which speeds up the performance of any operation the system executes. The files for your most frequently used programs are stored in cache instead of RAM which boost the retrieval process. Just for instance, if you have some application that hangs, you can plug-in yourUSB or SD card then follow this tutorial and and it’s done.

Procedure to use USB drive as RAM

Step 1) Connect the USB or Sd card to the PC. Right-click on icon and click “Properties“. Navigate to “Readyboost Tab“.

Step 2) Here, you can select either of the two options. The first is “Dedicate this device to Readyboost” which will assign the complete space on the drive to system. Else, you can manually assign the amount of space you want to allocate as Cache by selecting “Use the device“.

 Step 3) Click “Apply” and you’re done. The next time you open “My Computer” window you will see the allocated space been deducted from the USB drive.

Procedure to Revert back the changes.

Step 1) Just in case, if you want to revert back to the changes been made, that too is very easy. Right Click on the USB drive icon and click “Properties”. Move to “Readyboost” tab.

 Step 2) Select “Do not use this device“. Click “Apply” and it’s done. Now, you will find the allocated space back to the USB drive.
Note :- This trick will work on every version of Windows 7 or higher. If you have Windows XP then I’vl recommend you to use a software utility, Ebooster.
